Today we leave Wakatobi and head for Bali for one night. I think we have spent about a third of our time underwater here. Yesterday after diving they took us to the other side of the island. There is a village of people who used to be sea gypsies. Bojo people. They live over water. They build their homes on rock they gather to build up the reef. We were there at high tide and water filled some of the streets. They were most welcoming. Children were jumping in and playing in water everywhere. I saw boats made from one piece of wood. It had a primitive feel. Big smiling faces looking out windows of rustic dwellings. They make their living from fishing. At the end of our tour they sold us sarongs. I bought a few locally made that require two weeks to a month to weave. The children enjoyed their photos taken and then seeing it on the LCD screen. It was a feast for photography. I'll include a few once I've downloaded them.
The tide is low, so they took our luggage last night in order to load it on the boats. We will take a boat to an island with the airport. From there were take a private aircraft to Bali. We are very remote. I haven't seen one speed boat, or jet ski. Very nice.
